You can create a parent, child relationship by adding the parent and the child asset records to the current asset.
Tip
To view the Add Asset Parent dialog box, click the Add Asset Parent link.
With required permissions, you can add a parent record to the current asset record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab, and then click the Add Parent link.
The Add Asset Parent dialog box opens.
3. In the Asset Number box, type the asset number that you want to assign as a parent.
Note: · If the department of child asset is different from the department of parent asset, you can assign a new child asset to the department of parent asset or keep the department of child asset unchanged. · An asset record can have only one parent record linked to it. If the asset already has a parent record, the Edit Parent link is displayed. |
4. In the Parent Asset Organization list, select the organization of the parent record.
5. In the How is the Asset linked to this Parent list, select the type of parent, child relationship.
Note: Following are the types of parent, child relationship. · Attached - The child asset is attached to the parent asset. · Permanent - The child asset is permanently attached to the parent asset. · Removed - The child asset is not attached to the parent asset. |
6. Click one of the following:
o Save to save the information and close the dialog box.
o Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.
The Edit Asset Parent dialog box lets you remove a parent record from the asset record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab.
3. Highlight the parent record link, and then click it.
The Edit Asset Parent dialog box opens.
4. Click Remove Parent to delete the parent record from the asset record.
5. In the Delete Asset Parent dialog box, click Yes, Remove Parent to confirm deletion.
With required permissions, you can add a child record to the asset record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab, and then click the Add Child link.
The Add Asset Child dialog box opens.
3. In the Asset Number box, type the asset number that you want to assign as the child.
Note: · If the department of child asset is different from the department of parent asset, you can assign the child asset to the department of parent asset or keep the department of child asset unchanged. · An asset record can have more than one child records linked to it. |
4. In the Asset Organization list, select the organization of the child record.
5. In the How is Child Asset linked to its Parent list, select the type of parent, child relationship.
Note: Following are the types of parent, child relationship. · Attached - The child asset is attached to the parent asset. · Permanent - The child asset is permanently attached to the parent asset. · Removed - The child asset is not attached to the parent asset. |
6. Click one of the following:
o Save to save the information and close the dialog box.
o Save & New to save the information and add another record.
o Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.
The Edit Asset Child dialog box lets you modify the type the asset that is linked to the child record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab.
3. Highlight the child record link, and then click it.
The Edit Asset Child dialog box opens.
4. Make the required changes.
5. Click one of the following:
o Save to save the information and close the dialog box.
o Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.
The Edit Asset Child dialog box lets you delete the child record linked to the asset record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab.
3. Highlight the child record link, and then click it.
The Edit Asset Child dialog box opens.
4. Click the Delete Child from Parent link.
5. In the Delete Asset Child dialog box, click Yes, Delete Child from Parent to confirm deletion.
The Show Full Family Tree link lets you view the other hierarchical relationships of the parent and the child record apart from being linked to the current asset record.
1. Search and view the asset record.
2. Click the Parent,Child tab.
3. Click the Show Full Family Tree (View Only) or Hide Full Family Tree link.
The entire hierarchical relationship is displayed or hidden.
