Add Meter Reading

The meter record is used to track the usage of the asset over a period of time. The Add Meter Reading functionality lets your Customer Portal users add new meter reading records to the assets with information such as asset number, organization, starting date and time from when the readings are tracked, value of the current meter reading, and meter type.

Add Meter Reading

To add a meter reading to the asset
  1. In the Customer Portal screen, enter the asset number or the license plate number, and then click the Continue button.

The asset information screen opens.

  1. In the Available Actions section, click Add Meter Reading.

The Asset Meter Reading page opens.

Note: The Add Meter Reading link is available, if the Customer Portal user has permission to Asset > Meter Reading Add/Edit in the Manage Security > Roles > PortalUser Role page of the Setup module.

  1. Click the Add new record link.
  2. Provide appropriate information in all the fields.
  3. Click one of the following:

  • The Error/ Warnings section displays an error message if information provided in any of the fields is invalid, or if the meter reading that you set is less than the existing meter reading. Make necessary changes to rectify the error, and then click Save Changes to save the meter reading of the asset. For more information on meter reading validations, refer to Managing Meters > Adding Meter Reading.
  • The Delete section lets you remove the record from the grid. Click the icon next to the record that you want to remove from the grid.
