Adding the Item Details

You can add the details of a new item in the Add New Item dialog box. The Add New Item dialog box is divided into the following sections:

·       New Item Information

·       Item Other Information

·       Item Usage

To add the new item information

1.    Open the Add New Item dialog box.

2.    In the Item Number box, type a unique number for the item.

3.    In the Storeroom list, select a storeroom to stock the item.

4.    In the Item Name box, type a name for the item.

5.    In the Item Type list, select the type of the item you are adding.

6.    In the Stock Type list, select one of the following options:

o      Stock - Items having inventory records maintained in the FASTER Web. For example, tire, and battery.

o      Non-Stock - Items having no inventory records in the FASTER Web. For example, screw, and grease.

7.    In the Unit of Order list, select a unit of measurement that you want to use while ordering the Item. Examples of unit of order are Each, Gallons, Foot, and Pounds per Square Inch (PSI).

8.    In the Unit of Issue list, select a unit of measurement that you want to use while issuing the Item. Examples of unit of issue are Each, Gallons, Foot, and Pounds per Square Inch (PSI).

9.    In the Unit Multiplier list, type the amount by which you want to multiply the Item ordered.

To add other information

1.    In the Item Category list, select a category of the item.

2.    in the Default Vendor list, select a default vendor that supplies the item.

3.    In the Item Description box, type a brief description of the item.

4.    In the Bin Location box, type the location of the item in the storeroom.

5.    In the Alternate Location box, type the alternate location of the item in the storeroom.

To add item usage

1.    In the Available field of the Item Usage section, select the type of usage of the item.

2.    Click Add.

The usage of the item is selected and is displayed in the Selected section.

Note: You can click the Add All button to add all the usage types to the item. You can click Remove or Remove All buttons to remove one or all the items usage, respectively.

3.    Click one of the following:

o      Save to save the information and close the dialog box.

o      Save & New to save the information and add another record.

o      Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.
