Running the Inventory Import Utility

After setting the configuration values, one of the following can be used to read Work Order, Technician ID, and Repair ID to map with export file’s fields depending on the use of Item Request ID in export file.

·      Standard report W399 - Technician Work Order Requests

The user can generate the W399 - Technician Work Order report from the FASTER Web Reports module or the Maintenance module. For more information on how to generate the report, see Running the W399 - Technician Work Order Report section.

·      FASTER Web > Inventory > Process Item Requests

The user can search item requests made by technician to view the Request ID and provides the value of the Request ID in the export file.

After fetching the required details, schedule the utility to run at a predefined time or execute the utility manually. During import, the utility validates each item record and imports only the valid item records to the FASTER Web database. You can view the status of import in the Integration Logs window and in the Integration Log Viewer Report.

Prerequisite

One of the following prerequisite is required to run the utility:

·      If you want to use the Item Request ID in the export file, then go to FASTER Web > Inventory > Process Item Requests. Search item requests based on the search parameters to view Item Request ID.

·      Run the W399 Technician Work Order report.

If Item Request ID is not used in the export file, then you can run the report to fetch the required details.

The report W399 - Technician Work Order provides Work Order, Technician ID, and Repair ID that must be mapped with the Attention, PO Number (Tech #), and Message fields, respectively, of the export file provided by the item vendor.  

To run the inventory import utility

1.    In the Integration Console page, do any of the following:

§      In the Action column, click Execute to run the utility manually.

Note:

·       The execute process do not have UI (User Interface). During the execution process, the utility finds the file to import using the configuration settings.

·       The execution process is synchronous, after it begins, your browser gets locked. You need to use another browser during the import processing.

Or

§      Schedule the utility to run at a predefined time.

The utility runs in the background at the scheduled intervals and does not display any screen or message.

2.    After the import process is completed, the utility performs the following:

Searching and Viewing Request ID

In the Item Requests from Technician page, search the item requests made by a technician to view Request IDs.

Tip

To view the Item Requests from Technician page, click the Item Requests from Technician link.

To search and view request ID

1.    Click the Inventory module.

2.    In the Actions section, click Process Item Requests.

3.    In the Item Requests from Technician section, specify the search parameters.

The Search Results section displays the item requests made by the technician and their respective Request IDs.

Running the W399 - Technician Work Order Report

To run the report from the Reports module

1.    Click the Reports tab.

The Standard window opens.

2.    In the Maintenance section, click W399 - Technician Work Order.

The Technician Work Order report page opens.

3.    In the Work Order Number box, type the work order number.

4.    Click the View Report button in the upper-right  corner of the screen.

The technician work order report is displayed.

To run the report from the Maintenance module

1.    Click the Maintenance tab.

The Maintenance page landing page chart opens.

2.    In the Search Maintenance section, select Work Order as the search parameter.

3.    Type a whole or partial document number or asset number, and then click search ().

4.    In the Search Results section, click the View link next to a work order to open it.

5.    In the Work Order window, click the Technician Print link.

The technician work order report is displayed.
